Wood vs. Wings

Trees and Airplanes don't play nicely together. Many airports face the constant struggle of ensuring that obstacles, like trees, do not threaten the safe operation of arriving and departing aircraft. How does YYJ, located on the west coast of Canada, in area known for its especially large trees, deal with this issue? LiDAR is often used to capture the height of obstacles around the airport, but what do you do with all that data? This presentation will show how FME is used by YYJ to manipulate the LiDAR data, develop cost estimates for removal and develop layers for an ArcGIS Online management tool.
