Solve LAS Interoperability Issues with FME

Transform LAS Point Clouds and Reduce File Size

Adjust point clouds to your needs by filtering, clipping, scaling, rotating or even splitting LiDAR data. Using FME transformers, like the PointCloudThinner, the final point cloud file that is written may be reduced in size by removing points in a designated and methodical way.

Query and Manipulate Point Cloud Data

Use the FME Data Inspector to query point cloud data sets to see information on levels of intensity or number of returns. In FME Workbench, transformers like the PointCloudStatisticsCalculator can be used to isolate and analyze relevant data quickly and easily. You can also add your own attributes to the data set with additional transformers or add orthophoto colouring directly to the LiDAR data set.

Create 3D Terrain and Surface Models

With FME, Delaunay triangulation can be constructed to create models like DEMs or TINs. Give these models further meaning by draping the point cloud based models with additional raster data.
